s Funding Project: Haiti Micro-Finance Project 4

For the past 9 months the micro-finance team at Pacific Crossroads Church has had the privilege to work alongside a group of talented young men from Le Plaine, Haiti. Although Haiti remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and struggles to rebuild from the January 2010 earthquake, this talented group of entrepreneurs are hopeful catalysts in their community. Our unique partnership with Reformation Hope has allowed us to see firsthand what the needs of their community are and how these young entrepreneurs will contribute to sustainable change in La Plaine. Each entrepreneur has a set of unique strengths and talents they hope to share to improve their lives and empower their community but they need your help.

With your donation, you join a community of givers hopeful and dedicated to Haiti’s future. Your contribution will fund a micro-finance loan through Reformation Hope. Together with Crossroads, Reformation Hope evaluates each small business plan, conducts Christ-centered business training and continues to cultivate symbiotic relationships with the Le Plaine community. Funding a small start-up business helps these entrepreneurs take a step forward in building a better future for their community.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and has experienced a great deal of political violence throughout its history. On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and devastated the capital city Port-au-Prince. Reportedly, more than 200,000 people were killed, although the exact number is unknown. Even before the 2010 earthquake, nearly half the causes of death have been attributed to HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, meningitis and diarrheal diseases, including cholera and typhoid. According to the World Health Organization, 90% of Haiti�s children suffer from water-borne diseases and intestinal parasites.
