Creating opportunity is the key to ending global poverty. In many nations around the world, we can provide opportunity in the form of loans or gifts to start small businesses. From chickens, goats and cows to fishing village projects, we can give new life and hope by giving new opportunities to the global poor.

While bad government is often a key cause of poverty in these nations, our excellent non-profit partners reach out and change lives despite the political environment.

About 1 billion people globally live in extreme poverty - less than $1 per day. Nearly 3 billion (half the world) lives on less than $2 per day. By fasting and giving weekly, we can save lives and change lives in these most difficult areas.

100% of your fasting donation for opportunity goes to the most innovative and sustainable ways of providing opportunity to struggling families and communities.

Your Impact: By fasting just one meal per week for a year, your sacrifice would give 20 chickens to 10 different families (200 chickens!) to provide eggs and income.

Your Friends: If just five of your friends fast with you, you could give ten goats to nourish families with milk and cheese, and be an excellent source of income.

In our own backyard, we see that Haiti, Nicaragua and Bolivia are the three poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere, with 20% to 60% living in extreme poverty. Much of South and Central America is only a bit better,with 6% to 20% of people living in extreme poverty (less than $1 per day).
